At Creator Now, our mission is to help creators grow online and empower them to pursue career opportunities in the creator economy. Picture film school, but reimagined for YouTube.

In its current form, Creator Now is a membership community where creators come together to learn how to grow online and find a career in the creator economy. Members receive exclusive access to live workshops hosted by top creator economy experts and are able to join teams that compete to see who can publish most consistently and grow their channels the most.

As one of our early software engineers, you’ll act as a key thought partner and collaborator around the strategic direction of key business and technology decisions at Creator Now. You should be comfortable in an environment where we like to hack & break things fast! We believe in a lean team where everyone takes extreme ownership and has a set of core responsibilities and goals rather than assigning task lists.

What Will You Do?

• Plan, build, and deploy new features as part of a team of world-class engineers using cutting-edge tech.
• Collaborate with our founders, product team, and creators (full-time and aspiring) to define and develop future product features.
• Help lead all technical aspects of the product development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, strategic planning, architecture, execution, deployment, and maintenance.
• Work within a team of industry leading engineers from The University of Waterloo.
  • You will get to help shape the engineering culture and vision of the company, helping build the foundation that will guide Creator Now's development for years to come.

A Day In The Life of a Creator Now Engineer:

• Start your day by aligning with a team of world-class engineers to clarify and plan the necessary steps towards accomplishing your goals.
  • You have full ownership over your feature/deliverable — that means we trust you to be responsible for your own task list. We do not follow a strict, text-book style agile method, instead we keep processes as lean as possible in order to optimize for speed & quality.
• Throughout the day, you help brainstorm solutions and ideas for issues/improvements that come up across the team.
  • You are encouraged to give your input on all aspects of the product, not only over what you are responsible for. There is no room for ego, everyone is working together to build the best product possible for our creators.
• You take breaks as you wish — as long as you are putting in the energy necessary to generate the mutually agreed upon results.
• If something breaks along the way, you take ownership to fix it with any help needed from other engineers as well as direct support from the co-founders.
  • When something goes wrong, we come together to find a solution and collaboratively reflect on what we can do to improve moving forward.
• You will share your work iteratively using Loom recordings with the rest of the team! Communication is key inside Creator Now and we have developed a strong culture of keeping everyone in the loop of what’s happening on all fronts.
